I was feeling a little adventurous this past weekend and with nothing to do while Jesse was at work I decided to get in my car and just drive:)
100 miles later I was in Anchorage..
And another 30 miles after that I was in Eagle River:)
Not really knowing what there was to do here I went to the Nature Center and got a map. I ended up hiking the Rodak Nature Trail. It was a 6 mile round trip trail but I only went a couple miles in.
There were quite a few people around so I wasn't as worried about hiking by myself as I thought I would be.
Eagle River
I then drove back into Anchorage and found myself in front of this view!
Standing in downtown Anchorage
I found what I thought would be a beach according to online.... And although I didn't find any sand, I did find a gorgeous overview of more mountain and of the city of Anchorage.
I couldn't stop taking pictures of these mountains they were so incredibly captivating!
Some random persons dog.... :) SO CUTE!
The City of Anchorage:)
The tiny peak of a mountain to the left side of this picture is Denali :)
The airport was right next to this beach so many airplanes would fly overhead while I was there. As I was driving away a BIG plane flew less than half a football field over me. The whole car shook. It was so cool!
This view is from Earthquake Park, just down the road from Point Woronzof
Spenard Park, with lots of little airplanes sitting on the lake
I planned on hiking Flat Top while I was here however though these skies are blue, right behind me where Flat Top is at, was black skies. Plus I somehow got myself lost and my car was on empty so I guess I'll be hiking it next time I'm there. Maybe Jesse will be with me then too:)
Upside to getting lost, I found this view!
On my way back towards Cooper Landing I stopped at Beluga Point
I LOVE railroad track pictures!
Just past Girdwood (60ish miles from Cooper Landing) is a little side road that will take you into Whittier and through Portage Glacier Valley.
One of the most beautiful views I have ever seen!
My first real hike by myself and with no one around.
But so totally and completely worth every second of stress to get here... ;)

I made it back to Cooper Landing that evening for some fishing with Jesse on the Kenai River.
Another awesome day down in my books:)
*sigh* That's it....I'm moving.
