Family Visiting Alaska

August 14th 2014

Mom, dad and Macy fly into Kenai at 2:30pm and drove to Cooper Landing. The minute they hit the parking lot (after hugs of course) we had them gearing up for a scenic rafting trip down the Kenai River.

Princess Macy.
You should have seen the look on her face when we showed her the rain gear.

I don't have a clue what she was doing..
Captured as a "Macyism"

After rafting the river (while raining) we all changed into warm clothes and enjoyed a pizza next to the fire in mom and dad's cabin to finish off the night <3

Friday August 15th 2014
The next day Jesse and I both had to work unfortunately. So mom, dad and Macy drove to Seward and adventured there. After work, once they got back to Cooper Landing we all went fishing at Quartz Creek.

Spawning Salmon

While dad and Jesse fished, us girls went to my favorite cliff spot with a beautiful view overlooking the Kenai Lake.

Finishing the nigh with some popcorn and again the fire in the cabin :)

MOM'S BIRTHDAY!

Sunday August 17th 2014
After a couple of go-go-go days we were all pretty tired. So we ended up staying in town.
We drove up Snug Harbor Road; A 1 mile gravel road to some of the beauty's of Cooper Landing.

Kenai Lake- Waikiki Beach

Rainbow Lake

Bad picture but later this day at ARC we had a baby moose walk past us. And the night before we were driving back to the cabin there were three big moose running on the side of the road! I can't believe how much wildlife we saw this week! More in one week than I had seen the whole summer it felt like:)

We Ended the night with fishing at ARC and watching this beautiful sunset.

Monday August 18th 2014

We spent the whole day on Monday fishing at Moose River :)

Dad caught his first Silver here :)

Tuesday August 19th 2014
Jesse and I had to work again today so mom and dad went off on their own.
They headed toward Soldotna/Kenai and ended up at a beach! I sent my camera with them and found these pictures when they got back :)

In the evening dad and Jesse went fishing while mom, Macy and I hiked Slaughter Gulch and I have to say; Mom kicked that mountains butt! This was the first mountain that I ever did and it destroyed me. There is no kind of training you could possibly do to be completely prepared for taking on these Alaskan Mountains. Due to getting a bit of a late start in the evening we had to push it to get the top before the sunset so though there were some breaks, they were pretty short.

We made it just below the top of the mountain but only because the sun had set and none of us were about to hike in the dark in bear country. So much fun to take some of my favorite people to the most beautiful view overlooking Cooper Landing.

Wednesday August 20th 2014

Jesse having some awesome bosses gave him multiple days off while the family was in town. This morning specifically he was on call till 1pm when he would find out weather he got the rest of the day off or not.

We all went to breakfast at Gwin's Lodge and then relaxed (dad fished) the rest of the morning waiting to see if Jesse was able to come with us or not.

SHE DOES READ!! :o

Jesse did end up getting the rest of the day off so we all hoped in the car and drove for Hope, AK.

We took them up Palmer Road to our favorite valley.

We hiked to a beautiful waterfall and a glacier lake.

After hiking we drove into Hope for some coffee, pies & fries.

An old historical cabin in Hope.

Since on mom's birthday we spent the entire day adventuring and showing them parts of Alaska; I never got the time to make her a cake. So I made it tonight and celebrated her 42nd birthday their last night with us <3

It was so so so nice to have them visit me up here for a week! Though this summer has been an amazing incredible time, it's not to say that I haven't been a bit homesick here and there. I couldn't ask for a better more loving and caring family! I'm so lucky to have them! I wish Kalee and Jamieson could have been up here as well but it will be very soon that I see all of them again:)
